Brenda H. Oneal
CEO and Managing Partner
Brenda is the CEO and Managing Partner of LightSpeedEdu. She is chief learning architect for the company and has developed “train the trainer” programs, authored leader development courses emphasizing essential skills for “leading people who are not like me” and created an exclusive Supplier Diversity eLearning offering for global performing companies. In addition, she has designed and conducted workshops on the personal aspects of leadership development.
Brenda has worked with top Fortune 500 companies in pharmaceuticals, technology, retail, entertainment and energy. Brenda is a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator instructor, competency model and competency application developer.
She is the former chair of the commission on Human Rights and Relations for the Town of Hamden, CT and four-time co-chair for the Greater New England Minority Supplier Diversity Council’s Business Opportunity Fair (the largest minority trade fair and business conference in the northeast region); former Board of Director for Scranton Academy for Financial Education; and one of eight Conveners of The Beloved Community, a community organization dedicated to promoting economic development among individuals in underserved and under-represented communities.
She has a BA degree in Communication Theory and Psychology from Augustana College and an MS degree in Communication Theory and Research from Illinois State University.
She is married and is a certified yoga instructor.
Carlton L. Oneal
COO and Managing Partner
Carlton L. Oneal is Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer of LightSpeedEdu. Mr. Oneal joined the firm full time in 2002, bringing 18 years of corporate experience with a breadth and depth of management experiences in Marketing, Sales, U.S. Medical & Scientific Affairs, Communication and Training & Development with Merck and Co, Inc. Prior to joining Light Speed, Carlton served as Deputy Director Scientific Affairs, Head of Strategic Operations for Scientific Relations and Director of U.S. Marketing-Cardiovascular/Metabolic products for Bayer Pharmaceuticals.
Carlton served on the Board of Directors of the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council (GNEMSDC) from 2007-2017 and was the Chairperson of the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Input Committee for 6 years. He is a recognized supporter and advocate of minority business interest and, as a result, received the 2009 Business & Economic Development Award by The State of Connecticut African American Affairs Commission.
Carlton has a BS degree in Biology and Chemistry from North Carolina Central University. After completing graduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, he continued his education with certifications from the Mendoza School of Business, Notre Dame University and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
Carlton and his wife reside in the Town of Hamden, Connecticut where he serves as the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission. For fun and relaxation, he enjoys training in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do. At the end of 2017 he was promoted to 4th degree Black Belt.
